Sports and action and more details!

Name of photographer - Alyssa Schukar.

General focus of portfolio-
I think it was made to show what an eating disorder can do to you.

List three problems that the judges note with the portfolio -
1. you couldn't feel the  love or the pain in the pictures. 2. also they weren't up close and personal like they wanted it. 3. it was more like a dark take.

List two things the judges like-
1. the judges liked the hati picture because it was the man and he has a nice background behind him. 2. The other judge liked the girl jumping over the hurtles because the way her legs landed.

What is your overall impression? What did you like or not like?
My first impression was i didn't like the first picture because it mad the girls story all mixed up, but some of the pictures were good and others weren't good at all.

Dustin Snipes:
What did the judges note as strengths as they were critiquing it? His contrast and the angles he was taking his pictures from. They also liked that in one his pictures everyone was doing something. His contact sheet.

What do you see as strengths? Do you see any weaknesses?
yes i did see his strengths he is a very good photographer. and yes  saw weaknesses i didn't like when he photo shopped his photo's to much.

Recap Video:
They went through all the photos that the kids took and criticized then like saying what they had to much of or to little of or what they could have done to make it better. That's how they decided the winner.

1. Describe one photo that you agree with the judges on. Explain why you and the judges do or do not like it.
I agree with the judges about the wave photo there could have been way more action in it that could have made it better. Like his had hitting the wave like they said.
2. Describe one photo that you do NOT agree with the judges on. Explain why you think the judges are wrong.
i did like the boxer photo i didnt think anythin was wrong with it theyy did.

Japanese Earthquake!

This photo makes me feel very sorry for them and scared because i couldn't imagine what it would be like to live on the streets with no roof over my head, i mean how would they shower or eat how can they afford to fix all of the damage. They used view point,  and leading lines.

This picture makes me feel sorry for her and the pain that she is feeling because if this happened to me i would feel like i would have nothing left in my life to live for because it was all ruined. This is using view point and balancing elements.

If the place i lived at got flooded i would be devastated because this makes me sad because you would have to wait till all the water gets dry and then clean everything then rebuild everything as well. This uses view point, and rule of thirds.

Touching People!

1. What do you think about this project and photo essay?

I like it because the pictures are very different which is good for people to meet new people but the fact that the people are nothing alike makes the picture even stronger.

2. What would you do if someone approached you with a camera and asked you to participate in a photo shoot and then asked you to touch a stranger?

I would do it because she just want to take a picture and to me that okay even if i had to touch a stranger as long as it isn't to touchy.

3. Think of an unusual photo shoot similar to this one that you think would be fun to go and shoot.

Uhm maybe at the mall with a pretzel guy or  a guy dressed up as a girl and im the guy.

4. Finally, tell me what you thought of the photography, did the photographer think about the rules of photography that you know about? What types of photos did he take?

i thought the photography was different and i don't think think she was trying to be perfect which is good because it made the photo stronger. and i do think that the photographer did follow some of the rules. And i think he or she took unusually photo's.

Magazine Cover Styles!

Cover types:
1. Early magazine covers- always have drawing on them never photo's, they were very simple drawings they have moral themes to them, they often had a religious theme to them. They are pretty simple and boring.

2. The poster covers- It covers the whole thing and has very small set of words on there. The picture tend to be more visually appealing. The disadvantage is the picture covers can be boring. Its hard to know whats in the magazine based on the picture. if you don't have a good picture people aren't gonna pick up your magazine.

3. Pictures married to type- The picture go together and match the theme, they compliment each other( words and the picture).tells you whats going on in the photo and tells you what is going on in the magazine. Tells about to people on the cover they always go together. Some disadvantages are they could find this magazine boring, less point of entry means less buyers. Boring colors and boring picture aren't the best. it should be visually appealing. Need good color.

4.In the forest of words- There is a lot of words on the cover, like the words are bold and non bold words, they are very colorful, and have different fonts along with different sizes. We see lots of text on the picture that covers up the picture.Lots of points of entry or entry points, the means to get you to pay lots of money for the magazine. the text over laps and covers up the photo that could be a negative you lose impact of your picture. Sometimes there is to much stuff going on.

Stuff every magazine cover has- The title of the magazine, along with some sort of art or picture, a date, and a bar code.

Two months before, member Natalie Maines criticized the impending invasion of Iraq by President George Bush at a concert in London. This remark sparked intense criticism from many Americans who subsequently boycotted The Dixie Chicks music and concerts. In their interview with Entertainment Weekly, the group discussed their reaction to the criticism and what lies ahead for them in the country music industry.

Portrait And Self-portrait Tips And Ideas!

Tips:
1) Don't be shy. If you approach people in the right way, they'll usually be happy to have their picture made. It's up to you to break the ice and get them to cooperate. Joke around with them.

2)Think about your motivation and emotions: Blankly staring at the camera rarely gets good results. Be silly, don’t be afraid to over-act. The worst that can happen is that you fill up your memory card with useless photos; but you might also find yourself with a proper gold-nugget of a self portrait.

3) Use a mirror! It seems so obvious, but how to use mirrors is important, too – take it down from the wall, and experiment!

Environmental portrait:
I like this portrait because i like the emotion in the guys face you can tel how he is felling and how he isn't the happiest guy in the word. Also to help his emotion and why he probably feels this way is his bed in the background and just by his surroundings. This picture is the environment he is living in.

I really like this portrait because its like they are taking the picture in the mirror which is a good tip they can use. Also they are small little kids trying to take pictures which makes it funny in a cute way. They are kinda like grown ups and you know that's how they feel.

Photography self-portrait:
I love this portrait because one day i saw that my mom had took a picture like this and to me it looks so cool that you can see the girls face in the mirror but the picture is taken from behind her i love it. Also the facial expression she has on her face makes it even better.

I love this picture because it was taken in a very odd place which makes it even better. I love the facial expression she has on her face its kinda looks like that looks like she has no clue where she is at and i love it. Also i love how she isn't looking at the camera i think it makes this photo better.

Casual Portrait:
I like this picture because its just a little girl that is just experiencing new things and i love how it was by a mirror and you can see her in the mirror as well.

I like this picture because in it the girl is just really natural no make up she isn't trying to model for anyone she is just being herself by letting these people take the photo of her. Its just really natural and i like it.

Plan:
I will shoot Kimberly in this photography shoot. To make this shoot successful i will make sure there isn't much distracting from her and by making sure everything is in focus. Where will i shoot hum im not sure maybe in the courtyard if it is light outside because good lighting on the person is always good or maybe ill take pictures of her up stairs and me down stairs or the other way around im not exactly sure yet.
